Pac-Man Arcade
Birthday gift from my husband Brad. Completed arcade set has user activated parts including side crank that controls Pac-Man chasing ghosts on maze board and a coin slot that lights up red when control lever is pressed. Refer to arrows in the last arcade set image that points to coin slot and its control lever. Several hours to build it. Didn't time it, but roughly 1-2 hours a day for a month. Love this Pac-Man Arcade! ♥
Friends Central Perk
Excited to get this set and then disappointed to find it is not a spot on scaled down version. It is 4x smaller than expected because it does not include all seating areas of the coffeehouse. Secondary slight is some accessories do not attach securely to minifig hands as shown on the box cover, like that muffin Monica is holding or the laptop in Chandler's hand. Nifty little set though and fun to build. Took about 10 hours to build it, just 1-2 hours a day for a week.
After build was complete, I added some other minifig characters to the coffeehouse and snapped some shots with those characters. They are not part of the original lineup you will find in the coffeehouse, but you might recognize some of them.
The Brand Name Van
The "brand name" is that abbreviation of the Danish words leg godt noted on the primary Bricks page. I posed the van with a little brick set I won at a software conference. The van has a user controlled door that swings on hinge-style connectors and includes the two minifigs that are wearing blue vests.
Disney Pixar Luxo Jr. Buildable Lamp
The completed build feels a bit wobbly, but it holds together quite well. It is a cute little lamp, but not one that I want to play with repeatedly. So, I gave it to my friend Staci. I do not know whether she kept it or gave to one of her kids. If she builds it and sends me pics, I will add them to my "other people's bricks" section... when I build that section.
Cute Hamster with a Flower
Birthday gift from my niece Caitlyn. I like guinea pigs and this hamster set was the closest match she found to a guinea pig. Hamsters are cute and it's a nice gift from my niece. Set is 3-in-1 build that can be a hamster, hedgehog, or eagle. So far I have built the bricks as hamster. When I build it as the hedgehog and eagle I will add those images. For now... see the hamster.
Tranquil Garden
Colleague named Sharon gave this one to me. One day at work I saw her carrying a large box. When I blurted out "What's that?" she responded by asking it I wanted it and the she handed it to me. Next day I gave her 2 cool jigsaw puzzles. Tea room includes a detailed tea-ceremony set and I forgot to snap pics of it before taking the set apart. One day I will build it again and grab pics to include here.
Warning: Building this set may cause sudden outbursts of curse words. That's some kind of irony for such a tranquil set (ha-ha). My husband heard lots of BLEEPS from me when I was constructing the trees and all little colorful blooms. Add one bloom to a tree branch and then half the blooms on other side of the tree fall off. Argh! But, when you complete the build you have certainly accomplished something. Despite my comical warning, this is a nice and is fun to construct (despite the tree blooms).
Ice Cream Shop
Bought this set because it looks fun and cute... and it is both. Set includes ice cream counter, blender, refrigerator, little ice cream cones, cargo bike for deliveries, etc. Built and took apart before I found my digital camera so only have a few phone shots for the gallery. One of the minifigs in this set is dressed as a polar bear. Check out my Central Perk set and you can find that polar bear stepped out for a bit to grab a cup of coffee. Blue base plate is not part of box set.
Minions Station Wagon Getaway
Christmas gift from my husband Brad. It is the first Minions set that he gave me. The set includes Kevin, Stuart, the getaway car, a safe full of loot, rooftop blaster, walkie talkie, pry bar, etc. Car is fully mobile with rolling wheels and rooftop is removable for enclosed or open-top ride. Either of the Minions fit in the driver seat, but Kevin is so much taller than Stuart that roof fits better when Stuart drives.
